This is a Baluch rug, sometimes spelled Baloch, Belouch, Baluch, Balooch, or Baluchi rugs, named after Baluchistan, near the border of Iran and Afghanistan. Belouch is an important nomad population scattered throughout Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. These carpets are usually extremely dark and simple, almost always made entirely of wool. The designs vary according to the different tribes that produce them.
