This is a Khal Mohammadi rug. Khal Mohammadi rugs are one of the few brands that are not named after a city or region. They are named after the legendary Afghani father of 25 children. The rugs are warm and inviting, made of deep reds with black or navy details.  The colours of the red are what give the rugs their name and were developed by Khal Mohammad himself. The patterns are almost always the same, usually a form of repeated columns of ‘Gul’ or ‘Fil Pai’ (Elephant foot prints).

This is a hand-knotted rug. This rug was made on a handloom, with the fibers knotted by hand. The knots in this rug are inserted into the base and then tied, making it an extremely high quality rug.
