Chobi Rug

This is a Chobi rug, sometimes spelled Choobi, Choubi, or Chubi rug, deriving from the Persian word "choob" which translates to "wood". Chobi is defined as a wood-like color. It consists of 100% natural dyes made from hand gathered fruit, vegetables, roots, tree bark and dried shells. It is the most labor intensive rug of all tribal rugs for this region. Usually the wool originates from the Himalaya Sheep. The dyes are steadfast, fade proof and long lasting. These rugs are usually all hand spun and hand knotted. They are characterized by their large geometric floral patterns, considered to be one of the famous brand names among most designers.

Construction: Hand Knotted

This is a hand-knotted rug. This rug was made on a handloom, with the fibers knotted by hand. The knots in this rug are inserted into the base and then tied, making it an extremely high quality rug. These knots make the rug pile. The hand-knotting for this rug required a lot of time and labour. As a hand-knotted rug, this rug is made from natural fibers. This is an extremely durable rug that will last you a lifetime.
